- Which kind of information can a buyer of a certified chronometer watch get from the COSC ?
None at all. The COSC is the depositor of the analysis results which belong to his customers. He is not allowed to communicate these results to anybody else than the legal owners.
The buyer must address directly to the head office of his chronometer brand-name.

- Does any chronometer on the market have a COSC certificate ?
No. Documents issued by the COSC are optional. Only the manufacturers may decide whether they want to reveal or not the results gathered during the certification process of the movement by the COSC.

- What’s to be done if a COSC certificate gets lost ?
A COSC certificate is considered as a value-document. The COSC can only issue one copy of a certificate which will have the mention “duplicate”. If a duplicate gets lost as well, the only way to get a new document is to submit again the watch

to a new test process. In this case only the brand name can ask for it. You have to apply to the brand name head office of your chronometer.

- What’s to be done if a COSC certificate gets damaged ?
The damaged document must be sent back to the manufacturer. Only on behalf of the manufacturer and provided the document is restored to the COSC, a new original certificate can be issued (without the mention ”duplicate”).

- Can a chronometer be measured several times in its lifespan ?
Yes, a chronometer can be submitted to as many controls as necessary, especially if main components have been changed. However only the brand is liable to ask for it.
